NPSO Deputies arrest Natchitoches man on multiple felony narcotics charges

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Natchitoches man on multiple felony narcotics charges according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday afternoon May 9th at approximately 2:35pm, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Criminal Patrol Unit were patrolling on La. Hwy 1 South near Natchitoches,  when they clocked a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox,
Speeding 77 miles per hour in a 50 mph speed zone.

Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as Joseph M. Metoyer, 28, of the 200 block of University Drive, Natchitoches, La.

While speaking with Metoyer about the traffic violation, deputies smelled a strong marijuana odor coming from his person and the vehicle.

Deputies say when they asked Metoyer if he had any illegal narcotics in the vehicle, he responded “that there was a little bit of marijuana and a joint in the vehicle”.

Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle, seizing suspected marijuana, suspected oxycodone, suspected alprazolam, suspected ecstasy tablets, digital weighing scales and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, deputies arrested:

Joseph M. Metoyer, 28,  of Natchitoches, La.,  transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS I Marijuana-4th offense, Possession of CDS I Ecstasy,
Possession of CDS II Oxycodone, Possession of CDS IV Alprazolam, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Speeding 77/50.

Metoyer did not have a valid physician’s prescription for the seized pharmaceutical narcotics which is required by law.

Metoyer who has several prior narcotics arrests remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.

Deputies say while transporting Metoyer to the Natchitoches Detention Center, Metoyer allegedly asked them several times to let him throw away the narcotics and let him go.

The vehicle was impounded by a local wrecker service.
