A joint investigation by the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, and US Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Team has led to the capture of Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Escapee Davantay Metoyer.

Metoyer was captured earlier this morning by the US Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit near West Palm Beach, Florida.

Metoyer had been on the run since his escape from the Natchitoches Detention Center on Saturday afternoon August 8th, at approximately 1:08pm.

At the time of his escape he was being held on Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Person convicted of a Felony, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of a Firearm in a School Zone and Probation Violation.

He is now facing additional charges of Simple Escape in Natchitoches Parish.

Metoyer is being held in an undisclosed detention center in Florida pending extradition back to Natchitoches Parish.

The NPSO will consult with Natchitoches District Attorney Van Kyzar concerning extradition proceedings.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones stated “that he is pleased that Metoyer is back in custody and appreciates the hard work by the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, NPSO High Tech Crime Unit, Natchitoches Police, Louisiana State Police and US Marshal’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit that led to the apprehension of Mr. Metoyer”.

“As a result of Metoyer’s escape, six other people were arrested by assisting him following his escape”.

Sheriff Jones further stated “we  always welcome citizen input that may help us solve criminal matters-but strongly encourage the public not to engage in criminal activity such as in this case by directly or indirectly assisting persons involved in illegal criminal activity which may lead to their own criminal arrest”.
