At a special-called Parish Council meeting held at the Natchitoches Arts Center Thursday, June 8, Parish Councilman Doug de Graffenried presented information on a tax proposition that he hopes the Council will vote to put on the ballot for the November 18 election.
The tax proposition is for the creation of four independent road districts. In addition to funds from Road District 40, those areas that vote to create their district will benefit from an additional $800,000 to $1,000,000 in revenues annually that will be spent on the roads within their district only. Areas that vote against the creation of their district will continue to benefit from the revenues generated by Road District 40 only.
Councilman de Graffenried, Parish President Rick Nowlin and Councilman Russel Rachal were present for the meeting. For more information, residents are encouraged to contact their Council member or Mr. Nowlin.

No new taxes they always say a tax will fix our roads and it never does
I guarantee our roads will not be repaired or maintained to the level of what the citizens expect
This tax will make no difference in our roads,I wish it would but from past experience it will not.
Why is it that the other 3 Council members did not consider the meeting to be important enough to be present & support the people that voted for them?
Because you can’t fix “stupid”.
Nothing new,if it’s not their plan or the don’t be agree they don’t show!
