The Northwestern State University Foundation is commemorating #GivingTuesday to encourage support for student scholarships.
Tuesday, Nov. 28 is the National Day of Giving and fund raisers at NSU are seeking support from alumni, friends and supporters of the university to share information on Giving Tuesday. Contributions are tax deductible. In 2016, people around the world donated over $177 million on National Day of Giving, with many choosing to support Northwestern State University and the Demons Unlimited Athletic Foundation.
“This year, we are challenging our supporters to help us raise over $25,000 to help continue the success of our institution,” said NSU Development Officer Kimberly Gallow. “With your financial help, we will continue to fund student scholarships, enhance our facilities and support our faculty and staff. If 250 people donate a minimum of $100, we will meet our goal.”
“Last year, our supporters helped us raise over $20,000, so we increased our goal for this year,” said Dr. Haley Blount Taitano, Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. “Those funds helped with student-athlete expenses and they helped our programs grow and succeed. Our supporters are amazing.”
Supporters are also encouraged to utilize their social media to promote Giving Tuesday and colleges who have the most graduates who give on Giving Tuesday will receive $1,000 to their college.
“Help us get to our 2017 goal by sharing this great information with ten other supporters of Northwestern State,” Gallow said. “If you are on social media, tag your friends, share our posts or even just comment on our page to let us know that you support NSU. Every donation makes an impact. Every donor makes a difference.”
