Graduating senior Shaffer A. Kimball of Shreveport was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in conjunction with commencement exercises at Northwestern State University Dec. 15. Kimball, who was an outstanding cadet in NSU’s ROTC program, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate and will serve on active duty as an infantry officer. Lt. Col. Katherine Carlson, professor of military science at NSU, administered the oath of office during the university’s afternoon commencement ceremony.
