NSU recognizes top graduates, cadet commissioned at FA17 commencement

Northwestern State University recognized top graduates from the Gallaspy Family College of Education and Human Development, the Louisiana Scholars’ College and the College of Arts and Sciences prior to morning commencement exercises Dec. 15. Graduating senior Shaffer A. Kimball of Shreveport was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in conjunction with commencement exercises at Northwestern State University Dec. 15. Kimball, who was an outstanding cadet in NSU’s ROTC program, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate and will serve on active duty as an infantry officer. Lt. Col. Katherine Carlson, professor of military science at NSU, administered the oath of office during the university’s afternoon commencement ceremony.
