12 Future Farmers Sought For Two-Week Youth Agripreneurship Class

Future Farmers - Ag Class
CAMPTI- “The chance to make a difference in quality of life for all depends on
the soil and those who care for and nurture the earth… –Neil Young, Farm Aid. Quoted in the book, Letters to a Young Farmer on Food, Farming and Our Future it reminds us of the value a farmer adds to the well-being of our community but many young people are not considering farming as a career.

Campti Field of Dreams would like to change that by hosting a two-week youth agripreneurship class in Campti, Louisiana weekdays from June 11 to June 22 for 12 future farmers.

If you are between the ages of 10 and 15 and you answer yes to these three questions, then Grow Green $$$ is for you.

 Looking for something to do this summer?

 Love the outdoors?

 Interested in making some pocket money?

GROW GREEN $$$ is a Summer Youth Agripreneurship Program that combines Sustainable Agriculture with Entrepreneurship. Participants will learn the basics to start their very own vegetable garden, how to turn it into a business, and make it profitable through diversification and value-added production.

The program has a supplies fee of $20, which covers both weeks. Class size is limited to 12 participants so please email donna@camptifieldofdreams.org, or pick up a registration packet at the Natchitoches Parish Library Northeast Branch in Campti as soon as possible to reserve your space. Your space will not be confirmed until the packet is returned with the non- refundable supplies fee.

The program is co-instructed by Donna Isaacs and Waylon Breaux, LSUAg Master Gardeners, and Kristie Chance Davis, a visiting teacher from Georgia. Guest speaker, Connie Jones, NSU Hospitality Management and Tourism, will discuss Louisiana cuisine and participants will learn how to make meat pies.
