Early Morning Fire in Campti Claims the Life of a Child

Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Deputies responded with Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9 and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office to an early morning fire July 20 at 12:31 am in the 100 block of Carter Street in Campti which claimed the life of what is believed to be a 10-year-old year child according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Office.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from Fire District 9 and the NPSO.

Investigators remained on scene throughout the night photographing and processing the scene looking for clues into the cause of the fire.

Additional information will be released as if becomes available.

The name of the child is currently being withheld.

We extend our sympathy to the family during this tragic time.

This marks the 4th fire fatality in Natchitoches Parish within the past 10 days. Please install smoke alarms in your homes or mobile home as a safety measure against fires.

  1. I was just wondering was the child alone? There wasn’t any mention of an adult being treated or being anywhere around the fire. It sounds as though the child was unattended, at that age I would think he/she would not be left alone.
