NATCHITOCHES WOMAN AVOIDS INJURY IN SINGLE-VEHICLE CRASH AFTER SNEEZING

A Natchitoches woman avoided injury after sneezing in a single-vehicle crash on Fish Hatchery Road on Monday afternoon according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday afternoon November 26 at approximately 2:02pm, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Louisiana State Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a mailbox in the 900 block of Fish Hatchery Road near Natchitoches, La.

NPSO Deputies arrived on scene within 3 minutes.

According to LSP, 23-year-old Lacie B. Nielson of Natchitoches was operating a 2009 Mercuy Mariner traveling westbound in the 900 block of Fish Hatchery Road south of Natchitoches when she entered a slight curve. Miss Nielson reported she sneezed which distracted her and caused her to leave the road on the right side striking a brick mailbox.

Nielson was wearing her seat belt in addition to the air bags being deployed during impact.

Deputies remind motorists to always wear your seat belt.
It can signficantly reduce the risk of injury or even death in traffic crashes.
