Kiwanis Club learns about NSU basketball

The Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches met Nov. 29 at the NSU Recreation Complex.

The club members had the opportunity to hear from Coach Jordan Dupuy, NSU Women’s Basketball Coach and Coach Mike McConathy, NSU Men’s Basketball Coach. The NSU Women’s Basketball team will host ULM this Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Prather Coliseum. Coach Dupuy stated, “the newcomers to our staff and our team have been an asset to the program.” He also stated that the Women’s Basketball team will compete in 18 conference games this year. Coach Mike McConathyand the Men’s Basketball team have been affected by a good number of injuries this past year. He is optimistic for a good season with some of the players returning. Did you know that the NSU Men’s Basketball team received an Academic Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches last season? That is pretty impressive.

The Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches will have their Chili’s social on Thursday, Dec. 6 beginning at 4 p.m. Be sure to dine in or take out at Chili’s and mention Kiwanis of Natchitoches. Chili’s will donate a portion of the nights proceeds to the Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches. On Dec. 13, join us at 12 p.m. at the NSU Recreation Complex for our club meeting. We will welcome Tommy Rush from the First Baptist Church in Natchitoches as our guest speaker.

The Kiwanis Club of Natchitoches,, welcomes new members who want to serve their community. Information about becoming a member is available by joining the bi-weekly meeting held the second and fourth Thursdays at the NSU Recreation Complex at 12:00 noon.
