Over 100 runners started their Christmas Festival Activities on a speedy note early Saturday morning, Dec. 1, at the City of Lights 5-K race, run on the picturesque NSU campus. The race is the first event of Festival day and has, over the past several years, become a community tradition. This year’s race featured a team from the Shreveport/Bossier chapter of Team RWB, an organization formed to help the veteran community and “…. to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to people in their community through physical and social activity…” Team RWB brought 7 runners to the event, wearing their distinctive red Team RWB shirts and carrying American flags during the race. The City of Lights 5K race is hosted by the Northwestern State University Track and Field team and the proceeds are used to help fund the athletes’ activities throughout the year. It is a fun event, a great way to start the Christmas Festival actibvities and, above all, a worthy cause.

The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes all the best to the NSU Track and Field Team on their upcoming season. We also wish to welcome Team RWB to our community and wish them all the best as they bring America and her veterans closer together.

  1. Thanks so much for mentioning Team RWB in your article. Our members enjoyed the days race and the picturesque NSU campus made our run especially enjoyable. It was also great to meet you and hope to see you again at other future Natchitoches events.
