It’s just not Mardi Gras in Natchitoches until the Natchitoches Humane Society’s Krewe of Wag-Uns parade rolls! The long standing local tradition rolled March 2, prior to the Krewe of Dionysos parade. This year’s parade featured another local favorite, the Indigeaux Fusion Belly Dance Troupe who helped lead the parade and performed for the crowd.

Over 75 animals, many in Mardi Gras themed costumes, joined their owners in a parade down Front Street that ended at the riverbank stage. They were joined by McGruff the Crime Dog, Sparky the Fire Dog and BOM Bank’s Monty the Owl. The Natchitoches Parish Journal congratulates the Natchitoches Humane Society for nine fun filled years for area children of all ages and is looking forward to many more.
