Four NCHS Powerlifters qualify to compete at USAPL National Championships

This past weekend, the NCHS Powerlifting boys and girls team competed at the LHSAA State Powerlifting Meet at the Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria, LA.

All 11 of the girls team qualified to lift at State with the following results:

Jayda White- 6th place, 114 lbs., Jameelah Farmer- 9th place, 114 lbs., Kaylie Delacerda- 5th place, 132 lbs, Ravin Terry- 7th place, 148 lbs, Mali Simmons- 8th place, 165 lbs, Kara Pullig- 7th place, 181 lbs, Sharissa Johnson- 4th place, Super Heavyweight. Three of the 11 lifters took home hardware:

Paige Delsa- 2nd place, 105 lbs

Funke Adeleye- 3rd place, 220lbs

Sara DeMattie- 1st place (back to back 181 lbs State Champion) and also awarded Outstanding Lifter – Division 1. Sara finished with a personal best on all lifts with 400 lb Squat, 205 lb Bench, 430 lb Deadlift for a 1,035 lb total.

The boys team lifted on Saturday, with two of the four qualifying lifters taking home medals, one setting a divisional record and one being awarded Academic All State:

John Waskom- 7th place, 181 lbs

Tucker Henderson- 5th place, 198 lbs. Also awarded All State Academic Award (4.0 gpa for all four years)

Rodney Robinson-2nd place, 165 lbs- New regional deadlift record at 565 lbs.

Patrick Dessources- 3rd place, 275 lbs.

Four of our lifters will compete is the USAPL National Championships in two weeks, in Alexandria. They are Sara DeMattie, Rodney Robinson, Tucker Henderson, and Paige Delsa.
