NPSO Patrol Division deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire District #5 responded to a vehicle fire March 28 at 6:20 am on Interstate-49 near milepost #125 south of Cypress according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the operator of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala stated that he was traveling southbound to work when he observed smoke exiting the hood area of the vehicle.
He pulled onto the southbound shoulder and shortly thereafter the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Fire District #5 attempted to extinguish the fire, however, the vehicle was a total loss.
There were no injuries.
A local wrecker service removed the vehicle from the Interstate.
