According to Kris: 5 spring trends just in time for Easter

By Kris James

With Easter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to give your wardrobe a little refresher. Easter symbolizes rebirth, so why shouldn’t your wardrobe reflect that? I have searched through the spring/summer 2019 runway archives to narrow down these trends, which was a lot. So I’ve rounded up my top five. Yes! I’ve chosen five trends to help get you off to a great spring start.

For the nostalgic type, some oldies but goodies where revised with a modern twist. Crocheted items are back and sexier then ever. Flare leg jeans and everything tie dye are just a few of my favorites. I personally can’t wait to try them out. For the fashion lover, think iconic pop-star. Colored suits are a bold move while white always seems to take the cake. Just ahead of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” that feature Billy Ray Cyrus, animal prints and cowboy hats will dominate this year. While the 80’s obsession continues.

So heres my top five spring trends I’m obsessing over.

1. Transparency

Go clear this season. This is a trend I predicted a few years ago. I even showed a clear logo rain jacket in my fall/winter 2016 collection. From shoes, to jackets, to bags, even pants; this is one trend I think my fashion lovers will go crazy for.

2. White Suits

White for spring “ground breaking” right? No, but a white suit is Iconic. White suits popped up on many runways for men and women. Nothing looks better on a man or woman better than a tailored suit.

3. Yellow

Yellow is going to be major in 2019, literately BANANAS. I know not everyone is a fan of the color. It’s personally my favorite color, but I never wear it. Don’t worry you can play with the different shades or incorporating the color in small details.

4. Tie Dye

The 70’s California Dream is back like it never left. But don’t worry, it’s nothing like the tie dye we used to make in arts and craft. This trend is for everyone! If you’re not a fan of the bold color choices you can always ditch it for more toned down colors as well.

5. Biker Shorts

This was one trend no one saw coming, well I did. I know when we think of biker shorts we think of the spandex kind, which are still legendary, but they’ve been revised and come in different types of fabrics now. The best advice I can give you is to get a few pair. They will look great with a blazer.

And there you have it, your complete guide to the new season’s trends. Don’t go shopping without it.

“When you look like you stepped out of a catalog, that’s never good. People shouldn’t succumb to trends, they should interpret trends.” -Rachel Zoe

  1. Thank you for your fashion expertise, I believe that all these looks can work for all age groups honestly!!! I look forward to many more of your suggestions especially for SUMMER! Thank you!!!

    • Lesson one, know your audience. This might work in New York City, but I doubt you will convince many people in Natchitoches, myself included that we need transparent clothing, biker shorts or tie dye for Easter or any other time
