The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce announces changes to its Executive Committee following its regular Board Meeting on Friday, April 26, where John Richmond announced that he would be stepping down as Chamber Chairman of the Board. Richmond has announced his candidacy for the position of Parish President, and elected to turn the Chamber position over to his fellow Executive Committee members in an effort to focus more intently on the election.
In a statement to the Chamber Board, Richmond said, “Working with the Chamber of Commerce this year on our initiatives to improve education, grow Parish economic leadership, and spur economic growth has been a tremendous pleasure. And now, after a great deal of thought and prayer, I am stepping into the race for the office of Parish President.”
Chamber President Laura Lyles stated, “John has been a valuable asset to the Board for 4 years, and we appreciate his service and continued commitment to the Chamber.”
The Chamber Board of Directors voted unanimously for Tom Matuschka, who is currently serving as the Vice-Chair, to serve as interim Chairman of the Board for the remainder of the year and step into the Chairman position as scheduled for 2020. Ryan Todtenbier, who is currently serving as Past-Chair, will remain on the Chamber Executive Committee for one additional year in the same position. Josh Manuel will continue to serve as Treasurer through 2020.
“As volunteers, our primary responsibility is to support the Chamber and its initiatives,” stated Matuschka. “As a Board, this was the arrangement that would offer the most continuity as the Chamber continues to build on the momentum it has started with Laura as our new President.”
