Last season’s winner of American Idol, Laine Hardy, graced the stage of downtown Natchitoches on Oct. 12 at the 2nd Annual TappedTober event. Many came from as far as California to enjoy the soulful sounds of the singer-songwriter as he serenaded the audience with covers of the music he performed on the show and his LP In the Bayou.
“Our team spent months trying to find the perfect balance of an artist with the name recognition that would draw a crowd,” said Sarah Stewart Nelson. “When Daniel Page came to us with Laine Hardy, we knew he was the one we wanted for our event.”
Local celebrity, Trini Triggs with 94.9 The River, hyped up the crowd as they chanted in preparation for Hardy to take the stage as the riverbank filled with people of all ages ready to “party with the Hardy.”
His performance began with covers of several classics including “Bring It On Home to Me” by Sam Cooke and “Come Together” by the Beatles. For those who were not fans already, Hardy gathered many new fans with his coronation song “Flame” and a few more songs from his LP as he engaged the crowd walking through, soulfully captivating everyone.
As he boarded a police escort boat at the end of his performance, that wrapped the evening on the success of this year’s Craft Beer and Wine Festival.
