Louisiana’s early childhood system relies on locally-driven community efforts since the implantation of Act 3 in 2012. More than 15,000 observations were conducted across 1,605 sites in 5,500 classrooms, which amounts to more than 1 million minutes of care and education observed.
Each site receives a rating on a Performance Profile from Louisiana Department of Education based on CLASS observations that measure the quality of adult-child interactions. Additional metrics such as assessment information, classroom ratio, curriculum quality, and teacher degree/certifications are included.
Natchitoches Parish Early Childhood Network which consists of 4 Public schools, 5 Head Starts, and 10 Type III Child care sites received its 2018/2019 Performance Profile scores. The Network has consistently shown improvements since 2016. The 2018/2019 overall score is 5.13 Proficient out of 7.00 , a 0.12 growth since 2017/2018.
Louisiana state Honor Roll recognizes two Type III Childcare centers, Fays Daycare & Learning Center and Tiny Tots Daycare & Preschool, as Top Birth -3 year olds.
