David Stamey steps down from Historic District Development Commission

After the Nov. 21 Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission (NHDDC) meeting, it was announced that David Stamey was retiring.

“I really enjoyed my 15 years on the Natchitoches Historic District Development Commission,” he said. “I felt we made a difference in meeting the main goal of the commission, which is to help bring more people and promotions to the Historic District. We had great partners from locals in the tourism business, to Northwestern State University, and local business leaders. From helping with festivals, developing parks and marketing our area, it was always a pleasure being involved with this group. We accomplished a lot over my tenure but one of my favorite events that we helped get off the ground is the annual car show.

Their organizers have done an incredible job of taking an idea and turning it into one of the best events in the area. After 15 years of helping out, I felt it was time to get new people with new ideas involved.”
