A Natchitoches teenager sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash south of Natchitoches on Sunday evening according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday evening May 3 at approximately 10:02pm, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS, and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6 responded to 911 reports of an overturned vehicle on fire with injuries on La. Hwy 494 south of Natchitoches.
According to Louisiana State Police, the preliminary investigation revealed that 19-year-old Wesley A. Rollo of Natchitoches was operating a 2009 Nissan Titan traveling westbound on La. Hwy 494 when he apparently left the roadway on the right side traveling through a ditch striking a culvert head-on.
The vehicle then overturned on it’s left side, becoming fully engulfed in flames.
Rollo was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was found lying under the vehicle.
State Police and deputies were able to pull Rollo away from the fiery crash until EMS arrived on scene.
Rollo was transported from the scene to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria in serious condition.
S/T D. Morvant assigned to Louisiana State Police, Troop-E Alexandria investigated the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
We extend our prayers to the Rollo family and wish Wesley a speedy recovery.
