  1. It is gratifying to see some are coming to the conclusion that something is “wrong” with the numbers, however it was evident 6 weeks ago. Sadly I’d bet there are many who trusted the numbers back then, today would say it was worth harming the economic health of their fellow citizens so that they could feel safe.

We were never “all in this together”, as many as half the workforce still received a paycheck and went about their lives, it just made us feel better to believe the fantasy while healthy people suffered.

Is Covid-19 deadly? Yes but so is every other communicable disease we’ve faced in the past all without politicians infringing on our Civil Rights and destroying OUR economy.

    Flatten the FEAR.

  3. Do you realize a conspiracy that large and including that many people is impossible. Doctors, nurses, hospital administration, coroners and the family all to agree with lying on a death certificate and not one talking? All of those people commiting a felony! No way. If anything more have probably died from it and not reported not being tested because of age and history.

  4. I love how snarky and condescending you are. Does it get lonely up on that pedestal that you put yourself on? Anyone with a brain can see that a massive spike in numbers doesn’t make sense. As soon as I saw it, I decided to research myself to see why said numbers went up. I quickly found the mistake by the lab. Some of the positive tests were as far back as March 25th. You got me though. I assumed that people have recovered, while you assumed that they have died.

And yes, misinformation from the media has driven this pandemic way beyond what it should be. I’m not a fool. I know this virus is real. It is just everyday there are massively conflicting stories. Wear masks, don’t wear masks, wear them again. Don’t see family members, but definitely go shop at Walmart. Don’t eat in a restaurant, but definitely go there and pick up food. None of it makes sense. We are all just pawns in a giant political game. I choose not to be a sheep.

  5. What Does the big spike in cases mean? See the attached update from LDH.

The Louisiana Department of Health has updated its website to reflect the latest number of COVID-19 positives and will continue to update its website at noon each day.

Today, the Department reports 1,188 new cases. Of those, 682 (62%) are from 23 labs that are reporting cases electronically to LDH for the first time, with cases stretching as far back as March 25. These labs previously have not reported and are now reporting all their historical lab results electronically.

This means 506 of the 1,188 newly reported cases come from the rest of the regular reporting across the state.
While all 1,188 cases are added to LDH’s dashboard today, historical cases are reallocated back to their respective dates and shared in the “date of onset of symptoms” visualization on the dashboard.

The percent positivity—the percentage of total tests that return positive—on all lab results was 6.1%.

“While this is the biggest single increase in cases we have seen since April 9, it is important to understand the context,” said Dr. Alex Billioux, the assistant secretary of the Office of Public Health. “Not only are there cases here dating back to late March, but we also have increased testing. That only 6.1% of all these test results are positive is a good sign. Our goal is to keep that number below 10%, the goal set by the federal government.”

“We believe we are beginning to see the impact of comprehensive testing across congregate settings and workplace outbreaks. This is what suppression of COVID-19 looks like—and it is critical to moving our state forward,” Dr. Billioux said.

The Department expects to see higher case counts in the coming days while ramping up testing in congregate settings.

  6. The whole state had a massive jump because of a load of tests that a lab had been mistakenly holding. Some were as old as mid March. Those cases have long since recovered. But great reporting that there was a jump of nearly 40 with no background info. It’s the kind of misinformation that has driven this whole pandemic…

    • Agreed. The headline suggests something that the writer never delivers, if you can say it was written at all instead of cut and pasted from somewhere. Misleading because it doesn’t explain the jump was due to a lab’s carelessness. By the way, where did you get this information? And how do you know these cases have recovered? We’ve heard that numbers have been misleading because people have died without anyone knowing it was due to the virus.

Are you suggesting misinformation has driven this pandemic? I thought the virus is what’s driving it. But if misinformation causes someone to infect other people, then yes.

      • We also know the numbers of people who have reportedly died from the virus is skewed. Unfortunately, it’s the bottom line that counts with hospital administrators. They are reporting that some people have died from the virus, and it isn’t the truth, these people have died from other causes. You see, more government money goes to a hospital if they have deaths from the virus. Why can’t people just be honest with us about this virus. Our lives have been totally messed up, businesses are ruined because they can’t open, people can’t pay their bills because they don’t have a job. Too many people are lying because there is some big payoff that they are getting from someone, be it the government or the big pharmaceutical companies because they want to make a killing on a fancy new drug instead of trying the old drugs that others say might work. We hear this one is lying, then the other is lying. It’s a shame that we are used, lied to, and practically destroyed by all the entities who are lying to us. We don’t know who to believe. We are the UNITED States of America, and it seems some people forget that we are united and put their own spin on things in order for a bigger payoff or kickback.

  7. This is so stupid, people get your heads out of yaws butt and get out there and take your State back before its too late. Need to fire the whole damn bunch of reporters since yaw sare
