The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) will be closed through Thursday, February 18 due to the extreme winter weather expected over the next few days. The library plans to reopen Friday, February 19 for normal business hours as conditions improve. Follow the NPL’s Facebook page for the most up to date information or visit natlib.org. Items that would have incurred overdue fees this Monday-Thursday will be waived if they are returned upon the NPL’s reopening.
Though weather might be keeping you from the library, the NPL can still come to you online. Don’t have a library card? You can sign up for one online and begin using the NPL’s digital services today! To register for an NPL card, visit https://bit.ly/2Z3Crgk. After receiving an email with your library card number and PIN, you will be able to access the NPL’s digital library via the Hoopla and Libby apps. These digital libraries contain thousands of e-materials, including movies, TV shows, books, audiobooks, music, and comics.
Hoopla can be accessed at hoopladigital.com or through the Hoopla app for Android, iOS, Roku, and Apple TV. With Hoopla, each library card can check out up to 15 items each month. There are unlimited copies of all materials on this service, meaning you can always check out, no matter how many people are accessing the same title.
Libby, by Overdrive, can be accessed at overdrive.com or through the Libby app for Android and iOS. Libby allows users to check out up to five items at a time or place a hold on items that have no digital copies/licenses available. You can also send books and audiobooks to your Kindle device from within the Libby app.
Both apps require that you create an account using your library card number and PIN, and both automatically return items when due so there is no need to remember a due date!
