City Council recognizes employees, designates September 3 as an official holiday

The City Council approved a resolution at its Monday night meeting, Aug. 9, to designate Friday, Sept. 3 as an official holiday for employees to show appreciation for their dedicated efforts.

In other business, Marvin Rachal accepted a plaque on behalf of his son Brandon Rachal, who recently signed as an undrafted free agent with the Brooklyn Nets Summer League Team. Brandon was unable to attend the meeting as he was playing a game in Las Vegas.

ORDINANCES – FINAL:

Amend The 2021-2022 Budget To Reflect Additional

Revenues And Expenditures. These are things the City needed to go back on, on the budget. There were some extra dollars that came in on sales tax this year based on last year’s numbers. There was also a little extra money on a few other items that was adjusted. Adjusted Christmas lights amounts to go along with the bids because of Covid. Some costs went up this year that the City isn’t normally used to.

RESOLUTIONS:

Authorize The Mayor To Advertise And Accept Bids For Renovation Of The Texas And Pacific Railroad Depot.

Authorize The Mayor To Accept And Execute A Grant Agreement From The Federal Aviation Administration For The Airport Rescue Grant Awarded To The Natchitoches Regional Airport. This is the third time the Airport has received money from the rescue plan.

Accept And Execute A Grant Agreement From The Federal Aviation Administration To Reconstruct Runway (Runway 7-25 And Taxiway B1) Project At The Natchitoches Regional Airport.

Accept And Execute A Grant Agreement From The Federal Aviation Administration To Reconstruct Taxiway (Taxiway B1) Project At The Natchitoches Regional Airport.

Execute Change Order No. 2 To The Contract Between The City Of Natchitoches And ASB Utility For The Water Treatment System Renovations, Backwash Effluent Transfer System. (Bid No. 0626)

Execute A Certificate Of Substantial Completion To The Contract Between The City Of Natchitoches And ASB Utility Construction For The Water Treatment System Renovations, Backwash Effluent Transfer System (Bid No. 0626)

Authorize The Execution Of An Agreement For Redistricting Services With Data Center, LLC And To Otherwise Provide With Respect Thereto.

Authorize The Execution Of A Retainer Agreement With Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C.; The Gori Law Firm; Washington & Wells, LLC; Goza & Honnold, LLP; Wagstaff & Cartmell, LLP; Panish, Shea & Boyle, LLP; Baron & Budd, P.C.; And Walkup Melodia Kelly & Schoenberger, P.C.
