The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office has been receiving numerous complaints throughout the Parish in reference to ATV’s traveling on public roads and highways. Please remember that any vehicle traveling on any public road or highway must be properly registered and equipped with all safety equipment required by the State.
NPSO will be enforcing all state laws regarding the operation of ATV’s on public roads and highways. This may include issuing citations to operator, towing of vehicles and issuing citations to parents who allow juveniles to operate ATV’s on the road.
Riding ATV’s can be an enjoyable time for riders, however, if not operated safely can lead to serious injury or death. Don’t operate on a state or parish roadway and always wear a helmet and other safety equipment according to Sheriff Wright.
