This year I had the opportunity to attend the 94th annual FFA convention that was held in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 27-30.
What is the FFA national convention? National convention is where FFA members from all over the country come to compete at national level competitions, receive rewards, or attend sessions and workshops to learn skills to bring back home to their schools. No matter the reason you come to convention there’s always plenty to do. During the week of convention, there are general sessions where we get to listen to national officers give their retiring address, people getting awards for not only Career Development Events, but also Leadership Development Events and Supervised Agricultural Events.
We also were able to see FFA members receive their American Degree which is really special for a FFA member because there is a less than 1 percent chance of gaining the degree. This year we watched Gracie Niette, a former lakeview student go onto the national stage and accept her American degree. At the convention, there was also a college/career expo where many different colleges offered information about their universities and different agriculture related careers. They also had a FFA mega mall, live concerts, and a rodeo. They held workshops where we learned leadership skills and ways we can better our chapter back home.
I would like to add a thank you for everyone who donated and helped make it possible for me to attend the national convention.
