Dr. Jafar Al-Sharab, head of the Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University, led students from Natchitoches Magnet School in operating a manufacturing line module during a tour of the Department Nov. 17. Students were given the chance to operate lab and industry-based equipment under the supervision of the ET faculty. According to Magnet math teacher Cassidy Blanchard, “Students really enjoyed all of the hands-on experiences and even the lectures. They couldn’t take their eyes off of all of the equipment.”
Dr. Shahriar Hossain, a professor in Northwestern State University’s Department of Engineering Technology, demonstrated programming and operation of an industrial robot for students. ET faculty explained engineering concepts while students toured labs and engaged with hand-on activities.
