Goldonna Christmas Celebration in the Park is Happening this weekend!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The planning committee for the Goldonna Christmas in the Park has been making their list and checking it twice. Some have been naughty and some have been nice but everyone will enjoy the festivities on Saturday, December 11th beginning at 5:00.

The Mayor and Town Aldermen formally invite you to come and spend the entire day in picturesque Goldonna while enjoying the charm and simplicity of rural Natchitoches Parish. You can start your day at the Saline Creek Christmas Tree Farm to pick out the family tree and enjoy the gift shop. It is open from 10-5 on December 11. You can then make your way downtown to enjoy the food and fellowship. There will be many opportunities to win door prizes donated from local residents as well as area businesses.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to arrive from the North Pole for photos and greeting the festival goers. You surely do not want to miss the opportunity to hand deliver your Christmas list or recommend someone for the naughty list.

The Goldonna Baptist Church Youth Group will be fundraising and selling the tastiest funnel cakes this side of Red River. Be sure to bring your cash! Teen Challenge will be singing Christmas Carols in the area. Face painting and candy apples will be available as well as parade novelties.

It is not too late to purchase a Split the Pot Ticket! Rumor has it that the pot is now over $1200 and still growing daily! Please contact Mayor Smith or Eugene Garner if you would like to purchase a ticket.

There is still plenty of room in the parade route if you want to enter your reindeer and sleigh. Please contact Jade Burke at 318-471-8976 if you wish to participate. The parade line up will begin at 5:00 at the Goldonna Baptist Church and this is slated to be the biggest parade the festival has ever seen. Lakeview High School Band and Natchitoches Central High School will be marching in the parade for the first time ever.

The local residents, the planning committee as well as the Village governing body log so many man hours all year to make sure this is a successful event enjoyed by all friends and family. Be sure to bring your Christmas cheer as we celebrate this joyous time of year.

What better way to end the evening than The Goldonna Assembly of God Church sharing a beautiful live Nativity on Main Street after the fireworks display. Be sure to stay a while and take in the true reason for the season while you are visiting.
