
The St. Mary’s basketball teams host Converse this afternoon in a 2 p.m. doubleheader, then play a 6 o’clock twinbill Thursday against Loyola Prep.
It’s a stretch of three games in three days for the Tiger boys and girls, who each dropped hard-fought decisions Tuesday night at Rapides.
The SMHS boys fell 53-49, despite 21 points from Mixon Bankston. The sophomore got rolling after halftime, scoring 17, and he finished 6-of-7 on 3-pointers.
Senior Jayden Jackson scored 12 and sophomore Payne Williams added 10 for the Tigers.
The Lady Tigers hung tough but were topped 60-48 by the Lady Mustangs. Ava Errington, a sophomore, led the team with 20 points while sinking 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Senior Kelsee Bienvenu notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Anna Grace Mabile added 10 points for St. Mary’s.
