On December 30, 2021 around 9:54 p.m., officers with the Natchitoches Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of South Williams Avenue in reference to a group of people saying someone shot at them while in the parking lot of Basic Health and Fitness. Upon officers arrival they located the group of people who said that they were popping fireworks in the parking lot when they heard what sounded like two bullets ricocheting. The group then noticed an individual standing near a vehicle in the parking lot and after a brief argument heard the same sound as the suspect was fleeing the area.
As a result of their investigation officers were able to locate Kyle Tanner (W/M, 48 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) who was placed under arrest without incident. Kyle Tanner is charged with four counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Disturbing the Peace by Public Intoxication and Obstruction of Justice.
