After a winning week, NCHS basketball teams are home Tuesday, Friday

Natchitoches Central’s basketball teams each picked up a pair of wins last week and will carry that momentum into home games Tuesday and Friday.

The Lady Chiefs went 2-0 last week, taking down Airline on Tuesday night 64-59 and defeating Byrd Friday night 54-42.

The Lady Chiefs were led Tuesday night by 15 points from ReRe Bowers and 12 by Makayla Gallien. Alexa Jackson and Layla Llorance each scored nine.

Friday night the Lady Chiefs got 22 points and 3 steals from Gallien, and ReRe Bowers approached a triple double with 16 points, 8 assists and 7 steals.

The 1-5A victories improved the Lady Chiefs record to 10-8 overall and 2-2 in district play..

As usual, the Chiefs are off to a fast start in district play after taking down their first two opponents on the road. The Chiefs edged Airline in a nailbiter 46-45 on Tuesday night and then took down Byrd 57-39 on Friday night.

On Tuesday night the Chiefs were led by Shreveport Times Player of the Week Daylin Davis with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Justin Aaron with 15 points.

Friday night, NCHS got 15 points, 4 assists, 6 steals and 7 rebounds from Aaron, and Davis added 14 points and 6 rebounds. The Chiefs outscored Byrd in every quarter.

The Chiefs improved their record to 12-3 on the season, 2-0 in district play.

Both teams will host Benton on Tuesday night and Haughton on Friday night at the Teepee. The girls will play first each night with tipoff set for 6:00, followed by the boys tipping at 7:30.
