Dillion Pikes shows dominance in Track & Field

Last Friday, at the Llewellyn Starks Invitational, junior Dillion Pikes continued to show that he is the total package. Lakeview’s top football athlete and highly productive basketball star is now showing that track might just be his best sport. At the Invitational, Dillon placed 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash, 2nd in the Long-Jump and 1st in the Triple-Jump with a jump of 44 feet 3.5 inches, his new personal record. Placing in all three events earned Pikes the amount of points he needed to be named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete of the track meet.

When asked about his accomplishments, Pikes stated “It feels good to continue to hit new marks each meet. My goal this year is to finish what I started last year and leave LSU as a state champion.”

Head Track Coach Dewaskie Fuller had this to say about Pikes. “Dillon is one of the hardest working athletes I have ever seen. The Monday after the Class 2A semi Final basketball game, he was the first one on the track ready to practice. He is the first one to practice and the last one to leave practice every day. I’m very proud to see his hard work paying off.”

Dillon has already been shown interest by several colleges, including Navy University. When it comes to the topic of being recruited, Pikes stated, “All I can do is continue to show colleges what I can do both on the track and in the field.” His actions are speaking very loud right now. Pikes is currently ranked 2nd in Long and Triple Jump in Class 2A and 15th in the State of Louisiana in Triple Jump. The future is looking very bright for Dillon Pikes and the Lakeview Track program.
