The Natchitoches Farmers’ Market, a much loved feature of life in our area since 1999, is back for another year of crafts, plants and food, all produced locally. The second weekly market was held Saturday, April 30 at the downtown riverbank. An eclectic group of over 30 vendors sold homegrown fruits and vegetables as well as homemade arts and crafts to a steady stream of visitors Saturday, April 30.
This week’s market featured “Teach Me to Fish” in which children were able to borrow small fishing poles and try their luck in the Cane River. Over 70 young anglers got to demonstrate their fishing skills. The event was a great way to build family memories.
The Natchitoches Farmers’ Market is more than a place to purchase fresh produce. It has become a beloved community institution and one of the things that makes life in Natchitoches so special. Come by the market and help support our local farmers and artisans!
