The 2022 Spring Grassfest-More Fun Than Your Average Fundraiser!

The Northwestern State University Volleyball team held its annual Spring Grassfest fundraiser Saturday, April 30 at the NSU tailgate area. The Spring Grassfest, along with one held in the fall, are fundraisers for the NSU Volleyball team and a fun annual tradition for our community since 2010.

The day long tournament featured 8 teams from around the area competing for bragging rights. When they were not battling on the court, players enjoyed crawfish and beverages donated by a local business. The Grassfest is held to finance projects and items for the team not covered by their budget, such as new equipment for practices and a few nice extras while on the road. The team is also raising money for a much needed locker room renovation. This year’s Spring Grassfest is expected to raise $10,000.00 to assist Demon Volleyball in achieving their goals.

Northwestern State University’s Volleyball team boasts 14 players coming to NSU from Louisiana and surrounding states. The team has a phenomenally high graduation rate and superb grade point averages. These young women are a success on, and off, the court!

The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes this group of superb scholar-athletes every success in their upcoming season. Fork ’em Demons!
