School Board receives superintendent report, school year off to smooth start

Natchitoches Parish Superintendent Grant Eloi presented a report to the School Board at its committee meeting on Aug. 9. He said the 2022-2023 school year got off to a great start with a “soft opening” on Aug. 5 and the first “official” day on Aug. 8.

There’s a really good feeling in the district,” said Eloi. “We’ve got that collective vision.”

Online registration has hit a few little bumps as all the documents needed to be uploaded for the first time. Seventy-seven percent of the district has put a portion of their online registration in with 60 percent being completely done. Within the next month or so that number should reach 90 to even 100 percent.

“We think this is a worthy endeavor that will pay off in the long run,” said Eloi, who thanked their parents for their patience through the process.

The Board will vote on the following items at its next meeting on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 5 pm.

Motion to approve NPSB Grant policy.
Motion to approve Out of State Travel for Tiffany Allen.
Motion to approve MOU between NPSB and NRMC and authorize Dr. Eloi to sign all required paperwork.
Motion to approve updates to Bid and Quotation limits as updated by the State of Louisiana.
Motion to approve the 2022-2023 Pupil Progression Plan.
Motion to approve the 2022-2023 Career Compass MOU

Other agenda items include:
Consider a Wellness Program for parish employees.
