The Natchitoches Dreams Foundation Invests in Our Young People!

Over 100 people gathered at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum Dec 16 for dinner, entertainment, and community betterment. The evening marked Natchitoches’ Dream Foundation’s 17th annual Christmas Party on the Cane. Zwerck Curry and Gumbo Deluxe played for partygoers, keeping the energy high and the dance floor full. Thelma Benjamin and her friends provided some of the best catering to ever grace any event in the area.

The foundation awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship to NCHS Senior John Burton, Jr. to help him achieve his goals for the future. This superb young man is a senior at NCHS, where he maintains a 4.2 GPA. He will attend Grambling State University after high school and major in nursing. The scholarship winners are selected by a panel of community members who consider each applicant’s academic achievement, essay, and community involvement.

The Natchitoches Dream Foundation also helps build a stronger, better community in many other ways. In addition to providing scholarships to hardworking young people in our community, they adopted the Natchitoches Parish Technical and Career Center in 2021. Volunteers from the foundation meet with students from the center and provide mentoring and guidance.
Persons interested in helping further their good works in the community may contact Mr. Cloyd Benjamin at 318-820-9595.

IF you see John Burton, Jr., wish him all the best at Grambling State University’s Nursing program. Keep striving, the best is yet to be!
