The 2023 indoor track season could not have started any better for Simon Wulff.
Wulff, a native from Radebeul, Germany, earned the first Southland Conference men’s track performer of the week, the conference announced Wednesday. The voting was done by sports information directors in the conference.
The sophomore smashed both his personal best and school record in the 200-meters with a 20.62 time, which ranks second in the NCAA. His previous school record mark was 20.97. He now holds the top three indoor 200-meter marks in school history.
In addition to his spectacular 200-meters time, he also had a great showing in the 60-meters, running a 6.72, earning him a 12th-place finish. His previous best was 6.84 set last year at the Texas Tech Open & Multis.
NSU is back in action at the Wendy’s/Pittsburg State Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan., on Jan. 28.
