In collaboration with Bossier Parish Community College, the Ben D. Johnson Educational Center has started providing free HiSET and English Language Services (ESL) classes to Natchitoches residents wanting to obtain their high school equivalency diploma. HiSET classes are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1-3 pm at the BDJ Center (400 Martin Luther King Dr., Suite A). The BDJ Center offers educational programs and assists Natchitoches residents with finding and maintaining employment. They provide certification courses covering foundational job skills, digital and financial literacy, effective communication, and industry-based certifications, like OSHA-10, Power Industrial Truck Operation, and ServSafe Food Handler. Program participants receive case management services, focused on creating stability in their professional and personal life and eliminating their barriers to employment. Additionally, the BDJ Center relies on its local, ever-growing network of Referral, Resource, and Employer partners to help participant’s obtain social services, job training, and employment.
