Mu Omega Zeta Participates in Community Events

Members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mu Omega Zeta Chapter, participated in the community service activity, Wreaths Across America, laying wreaths on graves at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.  Sorority members participating in this event were President Josephine Winder, Gevonica Smith, Linda H. Jones, Felicia Jackson, and Lashanda Dowell.  This is a national event that took place around the country.   This project falls under the International Service Initiative: Z-Hope: Zetas Helping Other People Excel and is a part of the sorority’s Military Appreciation toolkit.

Another community event that members of Mu Omega Zeta and the Zeta Amicae of Natchitoches supported was the Second Annual Natchitoches Coalition on Homelessness Winter Tea on Dec. 17.  The groups decorated their tables beautifully and enjoyed the guest speaker, Minister Loretta Davis, the fellowship, and delicious food.  Mu Omega Zeta members who attended were President Josephine Winder, Mary Calhoun, Linda H. Jones, Belinda Turner, Alexis Thomas, Linda Howard, Sandra Williams, Gwen Williams, and Judie Barnum; Zeta Amicae of Natchitoches members Katrina Bradley and Sedona Lyons; and guests Edith Blake and Wanda Lucas.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a community-conscious, action-oriented organization. Our mission statement is to foster the ideas of service, charity, scholarship, civil and cultural endeavors, sisterhood, and finer womanhood. These ideals are reflected in the sorority’s national program for which its members and auxiliary groups provide voluntary service to staff, community outreach programs, fund scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.
