NPTCC Continues Annual College and Career Fair

Natchitoches Parish Technical and Career Center hosted its student College and Career Fair on Jan. 25. Students were able to meet representatives from prominent local businesses, schools, and industries. NPTCC has hosted the annual event for the past eight years, and the list of participants has continued to grow. Principal Bobby Benjamin feels this event signifies the school’s purpose.

“Focusing on our school’s mission, it is our goal to prepare our students for life after high school,” he said. “It is our duty to give them the tools, and a steady foundation, for future success. We thank each and every business, school, and company that took the time out to give our students an opportunity to learn about their options for the future.”

Chelsea Calhoun, the school’s counselor, organized the event. “We are happy with the turnout of representatives for this year,” she shared. “As educators, it is our job to inspire students by reminding them of their potential. To have these companies and businesses reiterate our message, it does wonders for them. It builds the students’ confidence and self-esteem, as well as, motivates them to finish school. I cannot thank everyone enough; from the participants, the teachers, and of course, our students for making this event a success.”

The participants for this year included:

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE)

Hancock Whitney Bank Bank of Montgomery

Union Tank NSU School of Business

Boise Cascade Bossier Parish Community College

US Army US Air Force

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
