Village of Natchez Meeting Not Held Due to Lack of Quorum

Village of Natchez

There was supposed to be a meeting of the Village of Natchez on Feb. 2 at the New Birth Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Present were Mayor Patsy Ward Hoover, Alderman Sarpy, Police Chief Michael Gillie, Jr., Attorney Carmella Parker, special guests Landon Demery from J&J Exterminating and Greg Lemoine from S&G Inspection Services, as well as several members of the community.

The meeting was called to order at the 6 pm start time. At that time, there was a lack of a quorum as Aldermen McKinley Hoover, Shelia Johnson and Monique Sarpy were not present. As there was no quorum, no business could be conducted and the meeting ended. Alderman Shelia Johnson arrived at 6:03 pm, after the meeting had already been adjourned.

Left unaddressed were:
Reports of department heads (Chief of Police, Sewage, and Fire District 5)
Adoption of the minutes of the Jan. 5, 2023 meeting
An ordinance to retain Waskom & Brown as the accountant for 2023
Visitors for non-agenda items, if any

There were no first introduction of ordinances, public hearings, resolutions, other agenda items, action of proposed ordinances, old business or appointments to boards or commissions to consider.
