The City of Natchitoches announces that work resumed on Feb. 21 for the completion of rehabilitation work on the following streets:

• • Amulet Street, from Payne Street to Howell Street
  • Breda Street, from Bayou Jacko to Stella Street
  • Mayfield Street & Simmons Alley
  • Peninsula Drive
  • St. Clair Avenue, from Williams Avenue to East Fifth Street

Weather permitting, work on these streets over the next two to three weeks will consist of completing the construction of new base course, followed by the placement of new asphalt surfacing.  At times, these operations will require temporary closure of these streets, with traffic detouring onto adjacent City streets. 

This work is part of the City’s ongoing FY 2021-22 Phase 1 Street Rehabilitation Program.

The progress of work has been hindered in recent weeks by wet conditions, as well as underground utility issues.

Motorists are encouraged to observe all warning signs and flagger instructions and to exercise caution while traveling through work zones.
