Sheriff’s Office investigates shooting in Campti

 
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Detectives started investigating a shooting that occurred on Aug. 10 around 7:23 pm. NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a man being shot and lying in the parking lot of a Campti apartment complex located in the 100 block of Robieu Street in Campti.
 
Deputies and EMS arrived on scene finding a citizen rendering aid to a 33-year-old Campti man suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. An air medical helicopter was placed on stand-by.
 
Deputies taped off the crime scene and learned that the suspect(s) had fled the scene. No descriptions of suspects were provided to responding units.
 
Detectives assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division were contacted and responded to the scene. Detectives photographed and processed the crime scene which included the collection of evidence and bullet casings. Detectives also canvassed the area speaking to residents asking for assistance in the investigation.
 
The victim was transported from the scene to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in critical condition and later transferred to a regional trauma center.
