Cane River Creole National Historical Park will host several free youth holiday activities throughout the month of December at Oakland Plantation.
The park will host two special holiday craft activities on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 16. During the month of December, the park will also offer visitors a special holiday activity booklet in addition to the Junior Ranger activity book. In keeping with the season, the new booklet is full of holiday themed games and activities!
Dec. 1 – 31 – Holiday Activity Booklet – Throughout the month of December interested youth complete a series of holiday themed activities during a park visit. Holiday booklets are available at Oakland Plantation; ask a staff member for a booklet.
Dec. 9 – Holiday Signatures – Come to Oakland Plantation from 11 am – 1:30 pm to create holiday cards for loved ones and send some holiday cheer to our friends at Natchitoches Community Care Center. For more information, call 318-352-0383 ext. 316.
Dec. 16 – Let’s Make an Ornament – Come to Oakland Plantation at 11 am to create your own holiday ornament. Reservations are required as space is limited 20 participants. Call 318-352-0383 ext. 316 for more information or to make a reservation.

The grounds of Oakland Plantation are open daily from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Nearly 80 original buildings remain, many open for self-guided tours including several that are historically furnished from Wednesday-Sunday. Park staff conducts tours of the plantation grounds daily Wednesday-Sunday. In addition, the park offers tours on the NPS App. The Oakland Main House is open for self-guided tours from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Magnolia Plantation is closed to the public until further notice due to road repair work.
