
Cane River Creole National Historical Park is pleased to announce that Magnolia Plantation will reopen to the public on Saturday, February 10, following an almost six-month closure due to road repair work. With the reopening the park will resume regular operations. The Magnolia Plantation grounds and outbuildings will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Park staff will conduct tours of the grounds Wednesday through Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The park invites you join us for a special opening day welcome back gathering at Magnolia Plantation on February 10!
“We are so excited to open Magnolia Plantation to visitors again” said Interpretation and Education Manager Barbara Justice. “Take a break and experience something new, enjoy some fresh air, get some exercise, and see where history happened.”
The Cane River region has a rich tradition of community celebrations and gatherings. This FREE event will be held at Magnolia Plantation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. There will be games and activities for children of all ages on the grounds. At the plantation store free snacks like ones that once could be purchased at the store will be available while supplies last. Two guided tours of the grounds and outbuildings will be offered during the day at 11:30 a.m. and our regular daily tour at 2:30 p.m.
Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for weather and walking conditions. Pack a lunch and drinks and enjoy a picnic at the outdoor picnic tables. Volunteers are needed to assist with games and activities! Magnolia Plantation is located at 5549 Highway 119, Derry/ Cloutierville, Louisiana.
