Sydney Terrell struck out eight in a complete game performance in the circle while Maggie Massia had three hits and Skylar Braxton delivered a key sixth-inning triple as Natchitoches Central captured its fourth straight District 1-5A softball championship Tuesday.
The Lady Chiefs (15-11 overall, 7-0 in district) rallied on the road in Bossier City at Airline to win 3-2, scoring twice in the top of the sixth.
Lila Robertson got NCHS on the board in its first at bat, lifting a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead. Airline (16-9) evened the score in the bottom of the second.
Braxton tripled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and a wild pitch provided NCHS the eventual margin of victory, pushing the visitors ahead 3-1.
Massia went 3-for-3 from the leadoff position.
The Lady Chiefs travel to Logansport (18-4) for a non-district contest on Saturday.
