Beautillion honors six outstanding students

The Natchitoches Alumnae Chapter and the Iota Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will present its 23rd Annual Beautillion on Saturday, April 13 at 6 p.m.  The Beautillion will be held at Northwestern State University in the Magale Recital Hall. The admission for the event is $10. This year’s theme is “Prominence Personified.”  The guest speaker for the Beautillion is Attorney Cloyd Benjamin Jr. from Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The mission of the Beautillion is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic achievement, exemplary character and promote community service. The event provides a mentoring component for the young men and their mothers the opportunity to present their sons to the public as they transition into manhood. 

The Beautillion provides a positive and enriching environment where participants are recognized for their personal and academic accomplishments and extra-curricular activities.  This event will also include a performance of the beaux and their female escorts and a tribute to the beaux recognizing their outstanding academic and athletic achievements.

The proceeds from the Beautillion will allow Natchitoches Alumnae to continue to serve the community by providing scholarships and financial awards to deserving high school seniors, providing assistance to the Natchitoches Parish Boys’ and Girls’ Club projects, Nursing Home Project, Doll Project, Delta’s Annual Prayer Breakfast, American Heart Association Project, Betty Shabazz and GEMS Program, Delta’s Book project, Breast Cancer Awareness Projects, Girls State Sponsorship, and other worthwhile projects and programs that are local, national, and international.

This year’s Beautillion 2024 will honor six outstanding young men who are Tayvion Adams, Jorryn Harris, Damarion Raymond, Arnold Scott II, Donald Scott, and Rytaveon Thomas.

Beau Tayvion Adams is the son of Rondi and Tanikka Goston and Carlos Morris. His belle is Shona Moses. 

Tayvion attends Natchitoches Central High School and has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and clubs. He is a member of Natchitoches Central’s “Pride of the Tribe” marching band; honor band, a member of FFA, an active member and drummer at First Baptist Church North Street, and a Torch Bearer for the Krewe of Excellence. Tayvion plans to enter college in pursuit of a music degree and join the workforce. 

His hobbies include making music using the drums, guitar, and keyboard; building and making things and hanging out with friends. 

He proudly recognizes his parents and most of his family as being his heroes because they’re always there to support and help toward pursuing his dreams. 

Tayvions’s motto is “Live every day like it’s your last.”

Beau Jorryn Harris is the son of Ja’Lesia Mims and Marcus Harris. His belle is Timberlyn Washington. 

Jorryn attends Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School and has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and clubs. He has been a member of the Math club, FFA, FBLA, 4-H, National Honor Society, Lakeview Voyagers, Gator Basketball, Gator Baseball, Gator track & field, the Payne Subdivision Clean-Up Crew, and a Torch Bearer for the Krewe of Excellence. Jorryn plans to attend Grambling State University and major in Nursing to become a BSN/RN as he aspires to be a travel nurse. 

His hobbies include playing video games. 

His hero is actor Micheal B. Jordan. 

Jorryn’s motto is “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”- Mahatma Gandi. 

His sponsors are Rene Lewis, Edwina Lewis, Judith Hayes, Ke’nesha Coats, Kendra Braxton and Dawn Garrison.

Beau Damarion Raymond is the son of Tiffany M. Raymond and Damarion Hunter. His belle is Olivia Below. 

Damarion attends Natchitoches Central High School and is a member of First Baptist Church North Street. Damarion plans to enter college and study Engineering and welding to pursue a career as a welding inspector. 

His hobbies include perfecting his skills in welding, playing basketball, listening to music, playing on his PS5, and spending time with his family and friends. 

Damarion considers Muhammed Ali as his hero not only because he was the best, but because Ali was also a honored, respected and principled man, and that’s all things that he aspires to be. 

Damarion’s motto is “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.”-Bob Marley.

Arnold AJ Scott is the son of Kiana and Arnold Scott Sr. His belle is Sierra Kilgore. 

Arnold attends Natchitoches Central High School and has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities. He is a member of Natchitoches Central’s football and basketball team and a member of Abundant Life Church. Arnold plans to attend college and major in sports medicine and continue his football career. 

His hobbies include spending time with friends and family, and going to the field working on route running. 

He proudly recognizes God as his hero because he states that “Even when I thought everything was over, he had other plans and I felt like this was a good way to get his name out more.” 

Arnolds’s motto is “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” -Martin Luther King. 

His sponsors are Yolanda Bobb, Akilah Issac, Cynthia Harmon, Takesha Barnum, Ayanna Redmond, Belinda Walden, and Tahirah Forte.

Beau Donald Scott Jr. is the son of Donald Scott Sr. and Virginia Belle. His belle is Shawnice Jones. 

Donald attends Natchitoches Central High School and has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and clubs. He is a member and concert percussion section leader of Natchitoches Central’s “Pride of the Tribe” marching band, a talent band student, a volunteer at local nursing homes and a participant in EMBODI, park clean-up and the 2024 Beautillion. Donald plans to attend college at Louisiana Tech and major in mechanical engineering. 

His hobbies include working out, listening to and playing music, hanging out with friends and playing video games. 

He names his Dad as his hero, because “Throughout my hard times he has been my listening ear, with no fear of judgement or persecution. I can always depend on him to be my go-to person.”

Donald’s motto is “Learn from everything and keep going.”

Beau Rytavion Thomas is the son of Billy and Corvoisia Moses. His belle is Megan Helaire. 

Rytavion attends Natchitoches Central High School, and has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and clubs. He has been a member of Natchitoches Central’s football, basketball, and track teams. Rytavion’s future plans include attending college with hopes of one day becoming a professional football player or a lawyer. 

His hobbies include praying, playing sports, and working out. 

His heroes are Jesus, his grandmother and Mike Todd. 

Rytavion’s motto is “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; Trust in him. He is the way, the truth, and the life.”
