FOOTBALL: Meet the Chiefs Night

There was nary an empty seat to be found in the Natchitoches Events Center as over 800 Chiefs fans packed the venue for the second annual NCHS Football “Meet the Chiefs” Night, Saturday August 10. The event served both as a fundraiser and as an opportunity to introduce Coach Brad Laird, his staff, and the hard-working young men of the Chiefs’ football team to the community.

Arriving guests were greeted by a line of players, cheerleaders and maroon line members as they entered the event center’s main hall. Guests socialized and perused the absolutely amazing variety of sports memorabilia and other items featured in the evening’s silent and live auctions. Lasyone’s Restaurant catered the event with their superb Louisiana cuisine. The Meet the Chiefs night is expected to raise over $75,000 for the NCHS football program.

Mayor Ronnie Williams delivered the opening remarks, after which the Chiefs Cheerleaders and Maroon Line pumped up the crowd with a high energy performance. NCHS Football Coach Brad Laird, in his first year at the helm of the Chiefs, brings experience at both the NCAA Division I and high school levels. He introduced his coaching staff after which the seniors were spotlighted. After the seniors were highlighted, the juniors, sophomores, freshmen and trainers were recognized.

The Meet the Chiefs Night was an amazing display of support from the entire community for a group of deserving young men. From the coaches, teachers, and parents to the area businesses who donated items and services, to the guests who came to the event and gave generously, people of every race and circumstance came together in a common cause.

Go Chiefs!
