
The Natchitoches Police Department arrested three suspects for a shooting that occurred on Melrose Avenue early Monday morning, Sept. 2.
Natchitoches Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of Melrose Avenue around 1:10 am in reference to gunshots in the area. Upon officers arrival they located the victim who was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began to render medical attention to the victim while waiting on other first responders to arrive. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and was later transported to a hospital in Rapides Parish for further treatment.
While speaking with witnesses on scene officers were told that the suspects were driving a silver sedan and that they were still in the area. Criminal Patrol Units’ located a vehicle fitting that description travelling on Parkway Drive and conducted a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle officers located several firearms that had recently been fired and narcotics.
Deshawn McMillan (B/M, 29 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) is charged with attempted second degree murder, resisting an officer by flight, possession of marijuana and illegal possession of a stolen firearm. He was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
Tyren Sibley (B/M, 19 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) is charged with attempted second degree murder, unlawful handling of a machine gun and an outstanding warrant through Texas. He was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
Jasman Thomas (B/M, 17 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) is charged with attempted second degree murder, resisting an officer, possession of schedule II narcotic (Oxycodone Hydrochloride) and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled or dangerous substance. He was placed in a detention center in Jackson Parish.
This investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are expected.
