Don’t forget: Clocks ‘fall back’ Sunday at 2 a.m.

On Sunday, November 3, at 2 a.m., clocks across most of the United States will “fall back” one hour as Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends, marking a return to Standard Time.

This shift gives everyone an extra hour, often seen as a welcome bonus of extra rest or leisure. Clocks will turn back from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m., moving daylight hours back to the morning and shortening the daylight in the evening.

Daylight Saving Time was originally introduced as a way to make better use of daylight hours and conserve energy during the longer days of summer. While there’s ongoing debate over the benefits and drawbacks of DST, most people adjust their clocks twice a year, “springing forward” in March and “falling back” in November.

This time change offers a good reminder to check other household items, like smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, to ensure they’re functioning properly. As the evenings grow darker earlier, many will embrace cozy indoor activities or make the most of the bright morning hours. Remember to adjust your clocks on Saturday night to avoid any confusion—and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!
