Campti woman arrested after stabbing incident involving sibling

A juvenile remains in a regional trauma center and his sister is behind bars in connection with a disturbance involving a stabbing in Campti according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright. NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a disturbance involving a stabbing in the 200 block of Lake Street in Campti on Nov. 18 at 7:25 am.

Deputies arrived on scene finding a 16-year-old juvenile male suffering from a stab wound to the lower left side. Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Detectives assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the scene. Deputies secured the crime scene.

Deputies briefly interviewed the victim and witnesses at the scene learning that his sister, identified as Arma Y. Edwards, 25, of Natchitoches allegedly stabbed the victim over plugging a phone charger into an extension cord and another relative unplugging the phone charger.

Another relative provided medical aid until help arrived.

Edwards was detained without incident and placed in the rear of a patrol unit.

Detectives arrived on scene with a search warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court Judge to search the residence for any evidence used in the stabbing.

Deputies discovered a sharp instrument in the residence believed to have been used in the incident.

Detectives photographed and processed the crime scene, while another detective responded to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center to interview the victim further.

Deputies transported Edwards to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau for interview purposes.

During the interview, detectives established sufficient evidence and probable cause to arrest her on the following charge:

Arma Y. Edwards, 25, of Natchitoches transported and booked into Lasalle Corrections Center in Natchitoches charged with 1-Count of Aggravated Battery. Edwards remain in jail awaiting bond.

The investigation also led to an additional arrest of AAlyshia N. Edwards, 17, of Campti who was issued a citation for Simple Battery and released pending a court appearance.

The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis. The juvenile remains in a regional trauma center reportedly in stable condition.

Involved in the investigation and arrests were: Deputies S. Kennedy, Lt. B. Smith, B. Keyser, J. Wilkerson, B. Hamilton, B. Phelps, and Detective Sgt. E. Mogridge, Detective Sgt. M. Robertson and Detective Sgt. D. Sowell. Detectives say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
