The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on December 4 at the First United Methodist Church.
Nettles Brown and Roxanne Lane led the group in a sing-along program of Christmas carols, and David Clark exhibited a “Feathers and Friends” selection of his wildlife photography. Mayor Ronnie Williams joined in the festivities and offered Christmas greetings to everyone on behalf of the City of Natchitoches. Young at Heart also welcomed fifteen visitors from Vincent’s Senior Citizens Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.
December birthdays were celebrated by Elaine Johnson, Evelyn Evans, Sonny Evans, and Viola Porter. Elaine Johnson also celebrated her December wedding anniversary.
Harvey Polk served as Master of Ceremonies, and Pastor Gary Willis offered a prayer before the meal. Christmas table decorations were provided by the church’s Faith Circle.
Young at Heart meets the first Wednesday of each month at 11 AM in Bostick Hall at the church (enter through doors under the bell tower). The meeting is non-denominational, and all seniors are welcome to come and enjoy good food, fellowship, and entertainment. Attendees are asked to pay a $5.00 fee or to bring a covered dish to share. There will be no meeting in January due to the New Year’s holiday. The next meeting is scheduled for February 5.
